I chose to use the free USB2. That proved problematic because the drive would get different UID's after longer idle periods.
Brand New B85M-ITX will not power on
Worked out of the box. The disk is way too big but I couldn't find anything smaller first world problems.
I hooked up my disk to one Asrock B85M-ITX Intel RST the USB ports and installing went smooth just make sure you install it on the right disk, ideally disconnect other drives. Once OMV is installed you can enable the omv-extras plugin in the web gui.
Then you can install the backports kernel which adds support for the AR on my motherboard. I then installed it in my NAS and ran omv-firstaid as root. So now I'm attempting to make good on all or most of these bad choices and purchases by putting them to work doing something beneficial. I'm trying to do this with as much of the hardware that I already own as possible to keep additional costs to a minimum.
So does my theoretical build look decent enough? I know I've got to buy the actual storage drives but that's at least a known expense going into it.
